Aliens boardgame flash adaptation

Courtesy of Newgrounds user Homedrone comes this flash “port” of the old aliens boardgame. Play as the marines in various unforgiving missions based directly on the movie. Escape from the hive, rescue Newt, etc… the game is extremely difficult and lethal, but that makes it more fun, though you’ll probably cry in frustration when an alien drops right on top of your marine just as he was about to reach safety (A couple of hints: The flamethrower doesn’t leave acid splash damage, and aliens on the other side of the board should not be sniped since it’s preferable to leave them there running where you can see them than to have another spawn right on top of you)

Toon Crisis

Toon Crisis is a fun fps flash game with an interesting design choice as it is based on a filmed real background. You walk along a real city with cars and pedestrians passing by then suddenly you are attacked by imps and other cartoon antagonists who manifest from background items or even the obhects themselves come alive. It’s a fun and original mechanic, and I bet it saved them from drawing a lot of backgrounds¬† :)

Also you shoot lightning bolts from your finger, and as a power up you get to throw up the horns. Maybe in later levels you can get the shocker as a triple shot??  :)

Gametrailers.com – Mirror’s Edge – Race Mode Gameplay video

Mirror’s edge is a parkour simulation fps, here’s a sample gameplay video (Of the game’s racing mode) where you can see the character’s moves in action. The body integration and realism of the POV is a feature I’ve long felt FPS games needed to improve on, and it’s very welcome. Although action animations often need very close attention to detail which is hard to provide in a realtime enviroment – some of the combat featured in the video feels a little stilted, but still it’s a very nice looking and original game.

Mirror’s Edge 2D Beta at Borne Games

Borne Games in association with Electronic Arts has created a 2d version of the hit parkour simulation game “Mirror’s edge” you can play on your browser. The game is still in beta stage so you can only play a single test level but it seems to be coming along pretty well.

Cooking Mama, PETA edition

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has released a flash game parody of Nintendo’s cooking mama in which a bloodthirsty mama cruelly plucks a poor defenseless turkey. It’s kinda goofy but I find mama’s “evil face” funny.

You can play it on their website here

Black Shades

Black Shades is a “psychic bodyguard fps” freeware game where you are tasked to do escort missions with a variety of weapons and enemies, and different situations including zombie levels!

The game graphics are deliberately simple blocky graphics, but this ensures fast and furious action with plenty of ragdoll npcs falling around. A neat choice to burn out some energy in a series of increasingly fast paced short duration levels. You can also engage limited duration powers such as bullet time, a life saver when multiple enemies attack at one.

Whoever the white suited guy you’re tasked to protect is, he’s
certainly not a popular dude!

Superstruct: Join a Mass Experiment in Futurist Speculation with the Game “Superstruct”

Superstruct: Join a Mass Experiment in Futurist Speculation with the Game “Superstruct”

The year is 2019, and a report has just come out proving that the Earth’s population is likely to suffer catastrophic collapse by the 2040s. Energy costs are rising, a new pandemic called ReDS is devastating the globe, homelessness has reached epic proportions, and the internet has become a miasma of spam that prevents everyone from communicating. Now it’s up to you and a few thousand other futurists to save the planet by quickly inventing new social structures that can stop all our civilizational “superthreats” before it’s too late. This is just a broad outline of the rewardingly complex plot of a new MMO called Superstruct that the Institute for the Future launched last week.

It doesn’t sound like the kind of game with a lot of pretty graphics, but for a change of pace it certainly looks interesting.

More of a thinking man’s MMORPG than a poopsocker’s one.

Whack

Whack is a fun little flash game where you use the cursor to beat up a simple cartoon figure, the speed of the cursor determines how much the figure reacts, and there are various animations including a few where he dodges you and makes hand gestures.

Fun way to burn 5 minutes. Unless you’re sadist, in which case I imagine you might be enthralled for hours :)
