About the Role:

Catfoss Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a leading R&D company to recruit a skilled Instrumentation Engineer for their growing team. This key role focuses on the manufacture and installation of instrumentation for R&D testing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture bespoke wiring looms and assemblies from circuit drawings.
  • Hand solder fine components on test models.
  • Install and wire miniature strain gauges.
  • Calibrate, maintain, test, and troubleshoot sensors, signal conditioning, and data acquisition systems.
  • Specify instrumentation based on customer requirements.
  • Support instrumentation design and integration into models and test rigs.
  • Collaborate with teams to assemble models and rigs to quality standards.
  • Provide instrumentation support across all test facilities.
  • Assist in the operation of test facilities.
  • Maintain instrumentation hardware and records.
  • Install optical measurement systems.
  • Recommend design, process, or hardware modifications for continuous improvement.
  • Manage general departmental duties, including record maintenance, model storage, and equipment/rig maintenance.
  • Adhere to company Health & Safety policies and Quality Standards.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Adaptable to shift working patterns and overtime as required.
  • Complete necessary training to maintain safe working practices.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Experienced time-served technician.
  • HNC/HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in R&D and/or commercial environments.
  • Strong practical skills in instrumentation, installation, and calibration.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
