About the Role:

LCS is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Waking Night Residential Childcare Support Workers to provide casual support to young people in care, fostering their independence and educational achievements. The position offers flexible working hours with no contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with person-centred risk assessments and support plans, liaising with support workers for full handover.
  • Observing and documenting any changes in behaviour and support needs of young people.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with young people, staff, and professionals, actively collaborating to enhance their experience.
  • Ensuring continuous support at the same standard as day staff, with a focus on the safety of vulnerable individuals.
  • Carrying out health and safety actions, including cleaning tasks, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with external agencies like the police and Emergency Duty Team (EDT).
  • Supporting young people with appointments like hospital visits or police station visits.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Flexibility with weekend work.
  • Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People’s Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (or willingness to study).
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Resilience and ability to positively address challenging behaviours.
  • Strong self-awareness and commitment to being a positive role model.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Motivation to achieve excellence and passion for supporting young people.
