About the Role:
This role involves assessing, managing, and planning care for patients allocated to the Health Based Place of Safety (HBPoS). You’ll be a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional, responsible for delivering care and demonstrating professional accountability. The role will include undertaking statutory assessments under relevant mental health legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake and coordinate assessments under the Mental Health Act.
- Make applications for admission/Supervised Community Treatment, court applications (Section 135, Section 29).
- Ensure assessments comply with Mental Health Act requirements.
- Advise colleagues on Mental Health Act usage.
- Advise patients and relatives on legal aspects of assessment.
- Interview and assess individuals removed/moved to a place of safety (s136/135).
- Provide accurate records for audit purposes.
- Employ professional curiosity and act appropriately on findings.
- Collaborate with the Integrated Crisis Assessment Hub.
- Work jointly with Integrated Crisis Assessment Hub (ICAH), Duty SHO, Specialist registrar on patient assessments (Section 136 MHA).
- Analyse risk and implement agreed care plans.
Skills and Expertise:
- Qualified Approved Mental Health Professional.
- Expertise in Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007) and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Excellent assessment and care planning skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of legal aspects of mental health care.
