About the Role:
This Consultant Radiologist position offers a crucial role within the Radiology Service, sharing responsibility for service delivery and professional advice with fellow consultants. The role requires flexibility in working 7 days a week, including on-site resident coverage weekdays until 8pm and weekend rotations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide appropriate Radiology services and advice.
- Support 7-day working, including on-site resident coverage.
- Communicate and liaise with internal (clinical and managerial) and external departments (emergency services, GP surgeries, Urgent Care Centres, tertiary trauma centre).
- Lead clinically on a chosen modality/subspecialty.
- Supervise, train, and educate junior medical staff, and other radiology staff.
- Manage personnel and other managerial issues, including clinical prioritization of imaging requests.
- Continuously develop the service through audit, evidence-based medicine, IT infrastructure support, mentorship programmes, and developing evidence-based pathways.
- Support a culture of continuous learning from excellence and mistakes, including active contribution to REALM meetings.
- Support the wider organisation in medical professional matters.
- Collaborate with other organisations within the Black Country STP.
Skills and Expertise:
- Consultant-level expertise in Radiology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective liaison.
- Experience in supervising and training junior staff.
- Knowledge of evidence-based medicine and audit processes.
- IT proficiency in radiology-related software and infrastructure.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
