About the Role:

This role involves assisting in sterile service provision to Operating Theatres, supporting theatre staff, and managing the transfer of instruments between hospitals. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of theatres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in provision of sterile services to Theatres.
  • Support Theatre Staff within the Operating Theatre.
  • Manage day-to-day management of CMH Theatres instruments transfer between hospitals.
  • Scan instruments from IHHS trolley to instrument storage CMH theatres.
  • Work closely with Clinical Theatre Manager, Trust Theatre Equipment Lead and Clinical Teams.
  • Repair and refurbish theatre instruments, and report faulty equipment to EBME.
  • Assist the Loan Instrument Lead Coordinator in maintaining an equipment register for medical and surgical equipment.
  • Record and action non-conformances, and negotiate disputes.
  • Book and check surgical loan/hired/borrowed equipment from companies or other hospitals; arrange transportation and returns/collection.
  • Maintain an accurate record of equipment bookings and returns.
  • Update the theatre team regarding theatre supplies, finances, pricing, and technical matters.
  • Assist and negotiate with consultants, surgeons, and theatre staff regarding supplies, ensuring appropriate stock is ordered in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with EBME and other companies regarding repairs and replacements in line with safety standards.
  • Provide support to the Loan and Instrument Coordinator with invoice queries.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • GCSE Grade C in English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 1-3.
  • Previous experience in SSDs or Operating Theatres (desirable).
