About the Role:

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust seeks a skilled and enthusiastic Technical Instructor to join our team at the Royal Quays Intermediate care rehabilitation unit. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive rehabilitation services within both hospital and home environments, working closely with Occupational Therapists and other therapy staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with providing a comprehensive occupational therapy service.
  • Carryout assessments and treatment sessions screened by the therapist.
  • Deliver and fit rehabilitation equipment in patient’s homes.
  • Perform minor adaptations and equipment installations (e.g., grab rails).
  • Complete pre-operative assessments.
  • Carry out appropriate interventions and request support when needed.
  • Facilitate safe patient discharges from care, including equipment delivery and fitting.
  • Undertake relevant training specific to client groups.
  • Support qualified OTs with discharges from Intermediate Care Units.
  • Perform any other tasks requested by the therapist within the remit.

Skills and Expertise:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or willingness to complete within 12 months).
  • GCSE or equivalent education.
  • Understanding of Occupational Therapy philosophy and core skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative procedures (including Health and Safety at work and Moving and Handling).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
