About the Role:

We are seeking two full-time Band 6 Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist positions in York and Selby to join our supportive team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role requires a passionate and skilled individual to work across diverse settings, including educational, clinical, and home settings, supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy for paediatric patients with complex needs.
  • Manage an independent caseload of patients with complex needs.
  • Maintain accurate records adhering to Trust, HCPC, and RCSLT guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for a defined service area with clinical oversight.
  • Offer support, specialist advice, and training to less experienced staff and students.
  • Serve as a departmental and Trust resource, offering expert information and guidance.
  • Contribute to the collection of business data to inform service development.
  • Work flexibly to meet departmental needs, supporting inpatient, outpatient, and community services.
  • Participate in supervision, education, and training to support professional development.
  • Initiate evidence-based audits and projects to enhance clinical practice.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
  • Experience in managing a caseload of patients with complex communication needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent record-keeping abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
