About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at a large Portsmouth hospital. This role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of critical mechanical systems across the facility, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and maintenance of sprinkler pipework, air handling units, pumps, steam pipework, heating, air pod dispensaries, and plumbing and heating systems.
  • System diagnostic and fault finding (boiler, AHU, HVAC, plants, and components).
  • Copper soldering and brazing, PVC/Stainless Steel pipefitting, including threading and grooving machines, and Mapress/Express crimping equipment.
  • Repairing malfunctioning machines and systems.
  • Identifying and resolving equipment problems to ensure smooth operation.
  • Developing and implementing maintenance routines and procedures for all equipment.
  • Ensuring equipment component replacement based on functional life to prevent malfunctions.
  • Service and troubleshooting of equipment, and replacing faulty components.
  • Inspection of structures to ensure adherence to relevant legislation.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Fully qualified Mechanical Fitter with C&G/NVQ level 2 & 3.
  • Proven track record in commercial building maintenance.
  • Experience working in a large hospital environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in relevant tools and equipment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
