About the Role:
Protocol Education is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in a Tyne and Wear special needs school. The role focuses on providing academic support and developing essential life skills for students aged 3-19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, and additional diagnoses like autism or physical/sensory impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing pupil behaviour effectively.
- Supporting students’ engagement in lessons and providing academic assistance under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Assisting students with life skills development.
Skills and Expertise:
- Experience working in SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units, or Youth Work.
- Prior experience in supporting children within a school or related setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills, including confidence in managing challenging behaviours.
- Ability to work effectively one-to-one and in small groups.
- Enthusiastic, friendly, and firm approach.
