About the Role:

Hays Recruitment is seeking a reliable and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant for a primary and nursery school in Ellesmere Port. This long-term, full-time position offers an immediate start, or an opportunity to begin after half-term. The role focuses on supporting reception and preschool classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support preschool and reception classes.
  • Work alongside teachers to create a stimulating and engaging learning environment.
  • Implement a pupil-centred approach utilizing learning equipment.
  • Conduct regular observations and learn through play sessions to support social and emotional development.
  • Deliver phonics sessions and assessments (1:1 and small groups).
  • Liaise with key workers and aid with speech and language sessions.
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies (e.g., positive reinforcement, traffic light systems, sensory therapy).

Skills and Expertise:

  • NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 40 days of referenceable experience supporting EYFS/KS1 pupils in the last 2 years.
  • Experience delivering phonics sessions and assessments.
  • Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
