About the Role:

Higham Lane North Academy seeks a highly effective and qualified Art and Design teacher to lead the Year 7 Art and Design curriculum. This crucial role involves developing high-quality teaching, creating a coherent knowledge curriculum, and ensuring excellent learning outcomes for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver high-quality teaching and subject knowledge of Art and Design Technology.
  • Develop and implement a coherently planned and sequenced knowledge curriculum in Art and Design Technology.
  • Improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in Years 7 and 8.
  • Implement consistent assessment procedures.
  • Manage effective use of resources and specialist facilities including IT and Visualiser.
  • Support the school’s commitment to reading and literacy development.
  • Develop and deliver weekly form time activities focused on numeracy.
  • Lead on super-curricular activities related to the Art and Design department.
  • Plan, deliver, and support trips and visits.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven experience as a highly effective teacher of Art and/or Design Technology.
  • Expertise in delivering a knowledge-based curriculum.
  • Strong understanding of assessment strategies and methods.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire students.
  • Experience using IT and visual aids in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
