About the Role:
St Johns is seeking a dedicated and inspirational Head of English to lead a highly effective department, collaborating with a talented team of practitioners. This role encompasses overseeing the English Language & Literature GCSEs, and A Levels in English Literature, and English Language & Classical Civilisation programs, ensuring exceptional student engagement and achieving consistently high results, as demonstrated by the schools +0.11 Progress 8 score in 2024, the seventh consecutive positive score.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate a team of English teachers.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies across all key stages.
- Ensure exceptional student engagement and achievement in English Language & Literature GCSEs, and A Levels in English Literature, English Language & Classical Civilisation.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
- Contribute to the overall success of the school’s academic program.
Skills and Expertise:
- Proven leadership experience in a school environment.
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language & Literature, and A Level subjects.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students.
- Ability to analyze student performance data and make informed decisions.
