About the Role:
We are seeking a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist for a part-time or full-time position in Wrexham. The successful candidate will provide exceptional patient care, manage treatment plans, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of oncology services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information clearly.
- Assist in managing the side effects and symptoms of cancer, including pain management.
- Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various treatments (chemotherapy, immunotherapy).
- Treat patients with radiation therapy (if applicable).
- Provide constant monitoring and care for patients in critical conditions.
- Communicate with patients on shared patient decision making.
- Work in and lead a multidisciplinary team as needed.
- Assess and prioritize patient needs, delegating effectively.
- Recognise, review, and report patient condition changes.
- Perform basic administrative tasks (records, prescriptions, patient information).
- Adhere to the GMC professional Code of Conduct.
Skills and Expertise:
- GMC registered Doctor (not required to be on the Specialist Register).
- Relevant Consultant-level experience, or references demonstrating transition potential.
- Evidence of UK Right to Work (no visa sponsorship offered).
- Successful completion of enhanced background check (DBS).
- Quick thinking, patience, calmness under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail, systematic approach, and timekeeping.
- Empathy, understanding, flexibility, desire for professional development, active listening.
