About the Role:
This locum Consultant Medical Oncologist position offers a fantastic opportunity to support patients with breast and urology cancers in the West Midlands region. You will work alongside a dedicated team and contribute to a patient-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support patients and families, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and managing expectations.
- Manage side effects and symptoms of cancer and its treatment, including pain management.
- Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe treatments like chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
- Provide radiation therapy (if applicable).
- Monitor and care for patients in critical conditions.
- Communicate with patients and participate in shared decision-making.
- Lead and work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Assess and prioritize patient needs, delegating effectively.
- Review and report patient condition changes to the team.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as record-keeping, prescription writing, and patient education.
- Adhere to GMC professional standards.
Skills and Expertise:
- GMC registered Doctor.
- Consultant-level experience in Oncology or demonstrable progression potential.
- Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
- Background check (DBS) clearance.
- Quick thinking and calmness under pressure.
- Patience and empathy for patients.
- Excellent attention to detail and timekeeping.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Systematic approach to tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Flexible attitude.
- Desire for ongoing learning and development.
