About the Role:
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust seeks a Locum Consultant Haematologist in Bournemouth to provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and patient care, supporting junior Haematologists in a dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide diagnosis, screening, treatment, preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patient care.
- Actively support patients and families, communicating clinical information and treatment options.
- Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various treatments.
- Provide constant monitoring and care for patients.
- Communicate with patients and the multidisciplinary team for shared decision-making.
- Work in and lead multidisciplinary teams as appropriate.
- Assess and prioritize patient requirements, delegating effectively.
- Recognise, review, and report patient condition and changes.
- Perform administrative tasks including record keeping, prescriptions, and treatment monitoring.
- Conduct research to improve procedures and outcomes.
- Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, and other team members.
Skills and Expertise:
- GMC registered Doctor (not required to be on the Specialist Register).
- Relevant Consultant-level experience, or demonstrable transition potential.
- Evidence of UK Right to Work (visa sponsorship not available).
- Successful completion of an enhanced background check (DBS).

- Full-time, Monday to Friday + 1:6 on-call shifts
