About the Role:

Lead communications planning and management for the UK’s largest NHS community healthcare trust. This senior role offers a fantastic opportunity to oversee a busy in-house communications team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily activities of the CLCH communications team.
  • Identify strategic and operational priorities, providing direction and adapting planned activity.
  • Demonstrate solid judgment and extensive communications knowledge to capitalize on opportunities, resolve issues, and manage priorities independently.
  • Handle sensitive, complex reactive media issues.
  • Develop proactive media relations and stakeholder plans to build the organization’s reputation.
  • Report to and work closely with the Head of Communications to shape the Trust’s communications strategy.
  • Act as the Trust’s most senior point of contact for communications.
  • Influence senior decision-making and provide strategic communications advice on incidents and sensitive issues.
  • Proactively work with clinical services and healthcare partners to showcase the work of CLCH.
  • Lead on the production of the Trust’s annual report and annual review magazine.
  • Manage the Trust’s corporate identity and brand.
  • Line manage and support staff professional development to maintain a high-quality communications service.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Management experience in a busy in-house communications team.
  • Experience handling sensitive, complex reactive media issues.
  • Experience developing proactive media relations and stakeholder plans.
  • Experience working in a public affairs role (desired).
  • Ability to influence senior decision-making.
  • Strong communications and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in managing shifting priorities.
