About the Role:

Drive new cross-Government policy development in irregular migration by conducting operational research and analysis to support policy decisions regarding asylum and accommodation. Contribute to the team’s transition to Python-based modelling, increasing modelling capability within the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model demand for Asylum Accommodation using operational research techniques.
  • Scope and deliver new analytical requirements.
  • Build modelling capability and support HEO team members.
  • Work closely with policy and operational stakeholders within the Home Office, as well as external stakeholders in No10 and HMT, to understand future accommodation demand.
  • Present and summarise complex modelling and assumptions to senior stakeholders and external departments (No10 and HMT).
  • Balance a high volume of analytical requests, responding quickly to short turnaround high-profile asks from Ministers and No10 while building modelling capability.
  • Work with wider G6 modelling teams to understand how asylum initial decision and asylum appeals policy impact on accommodation demand requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders and analysts across the Home Office to scope and understand Asylum Accommodation supply requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of model development plans to satisfy requirements of Ministers and stakeholders while ensuring model accuracy and maintenance.
  • Present and summarise complex modelling and assumptions to senior stakeholders and external departments (No10 and HMT).
  • Balance technical requirements with business needs, broadening Home Office network and developing stakeholder engagement skills.
