About the Role:
Drive new cross-Government policy development in irregular migration by conducting operational research and analysis to support policy decisions regarding asylum and accommodation. Contribute to the team’s transition to Python-based modelling, increasing modelling capability within the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model demand for Asylum Accommodation using operational research techniques.
- Scope and deliver new analytical requirements.
- Build modelling capability and support HEO team members.
- Work closely with policy and operational stakeholders within the Home Office, as well as external stakeholders in No10 and HMT, to understand future accommodation demand.
- Present and summarise complex modelling and assumptions to senior stakeholders and external departments (No10 and HMT).
- Balance a high volume of analytical requests, responding quickly to short turnaround high-profile asks from Ministers and No10 while building modelling capability.
- Work with wider G6 modelling teams to understand how asylum initial decision and asylum appeals policy impact on accommodation demand requirements.
- Engage with stakeholders and analysts across the Home Office to scope and understand Asylum Accommodation supply requirements.
- Lead the implementation of model development plans to satisfy requirements of Ministers and stakeholders while ensuring model accuracy and maintenance.
- Present and summarise complex modelling and assumptions to senior stakeholders and external departments (No10 and HMT).
- Balance technical requirements with business needs, broadening Home Office network and developing stakeholder engagement skills.

Job Facilities/Benefits:
- Full-time, job-share, compressed hours, or part-time options (minimum 4 days per week)
