About the Role:

This exciting senior operational research analyst role within the Home Office’s Protection and Enforcement Analysis and Insight Unit (PEAI) focuses on transforming evidence-based insights into policy change impacts for displaced, vulnerable, and undocumented individuals in London. You’ll play a crucial role in modelling demand, caseload, and supply in the asylum and accommodation space, supporting top government priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model demand for Asylum Accommodation using operational research techniques, scope and deliver new analytical requirements, build modelling capability and support HEO team members.
  • Work closely with policy and operational stakeholders within the Home Office, as well as external stakeholders in No10 and HMT to understand future demand for accommodation.
  • Present and summarise complex modelling and assumptions to senior stakeholders and external departments including No10 and HMT.
  • Balance a high volume of analytical requests, responding quickly to short turn-around high-profile asks from Ministers and No10 whilst also building modelling capability as the team transitions to a Python model.
  • Work with wider G6 modelling teams to understand how asylum initial decision and asylum appeals policy impact on accommodation demand requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders and analysts across the Home Office, to scope and understand Asylum Accommodation supply requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of model development plans to satisfy requirements of Ministers and stakeholders while ensuring that the model is up to date and maintained.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven experience in operational research, modelling, and data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis techniques and modelling tools (ideally including Python).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in working with government departments and external agencies.
