About the Role:

APHA seeks a highly motivated and inspiring Technical Team Leader to lead and manage a dedicated team of technical staff, ensuring effective animal health, welfare, and international trade support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and line manage a team of local and geographically dispersed technical staff, ensuring effective and efficient deployment.
  • Proactively manage team performance, conduct, and attendance, reviewing performance regularly and establishing performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Maintain a positive team culture fostering effective local and agency-wide collaboration, promoting consistency and best practice.
  • Collaborate across the agency and with policy colleagues to influence tactical and strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure effective teamwork with operational partners and stakeholders.
  • Work with functional leadership to maintain technical quality standards, procedures, and policies while addressing development needs.
  • Use management information to monitor, analyze, and manage outputs, proactively identifying and resolving delivery risks and issues.
  • Contribute to agency-wide changes reflecting customer and policy needs, providing leadership and constructive input into change discussions and planning.
  • Champion high health and safety standards, supporting staff in fulfilling their responsibilities.
  • Deputise for the line manager during absence, including management of Veterinary Field Delivery Staff.
