About the Role:

Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form is seeking a dedicated Premises Manager to oversee all aspects of building maintenance, facilities management, and security. The successful candidate will lead and manage a team, ensuring excellent service to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage premises team (recruitment, performance management, training, scheduling).
  • Supervise external agencies’ work on site.
  • Conduct building maintenance (repairing, decorating, refurbishing).
  • Maintain and service academy vehicles.
  • Provide technical support to teachers.
  • Inspect building fabric, initiating and prioritising repairs.
  • Liaise with staff on security matters, ensuring safeguarding.
  • Oversee deliveries and a planned maintenance program.
  • Ensure high-quality facilities for teaching and learning.
  • Manage community bookings and facilities management services.
  • Ensure high levels of security and compliance with health & safety regulations.
  • Inspect premises condition and address any issues.
  • Manage building security and opening/closing procedures.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Health and Safety knowledge and training.
  • Plumbing, general, ground maintenance, electrical, or building maintenance experience (or training).
  • Heating system knowledge.
  • Maintenance and security system knowledge.
  • Procurement and service level agreement experience.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Cleaning knowledge and standards.
  • Experience in inner city schools or educational establishments.
  • General maintenance experience.
  • Experience with external contractors.
  • Team management experience.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Large building projects experience.
  • Event management experience.
  • Service level agreement management and best value experience.
  • Physical fitness for heavy lifting.
  • Emergency response capability outside working hours.
