About the Role:

This role involves collaborating with colleagues to provide high-quality, timely radiological services, meeting departmental and Trust objectives. The Consultant will develop close links with clinicians, and develop patient services to the highest standard, following departmental protocols and Trust guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend cross-county and cross-site meetings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality, timely services.
  • Develop close collaborative links with clinicians.
  • Develop radiological services to the highest standards.
  • Develop diagnostic and therapeutic protocols and guidelines.
  • Participate in Trust’s annual appraisal and revalidation process.
  • Seek approval for all leave requests.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for emergency, urgent and inpatient services.
  • Attend hospital site for off-site on-call duties, as required.
  • Provide cross-cover for colleagues’ leave.
  • Ensure quality assurance and audit compliance with national standards.
  • Participate in departmental and multidisciplinary audit programmes.
  • Participate in clinical governance programmes.
  • Attend regular clinical meetings and participate in postgraduate activities.
  • Maintain continuing medical education.
  • Ensure up-to-date practice and support revalidation principles.
  • Share responsibility for data protection.
  • Comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the NHS Constitution.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Consultant-level experience in Radiology.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of departmental protocols and Trust guidance.
  • Experience in developing and implementing diagnostic and therapeutic protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of quality assurance and audit procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS policies and procedures.
