About the Role:

This Locum Paediatric Emergency Consultant role focuses on delivering evidence-based patient care within a multidisciplinary team setting at a leading UK hospital. Key responsibilities include ongoing patient care, alongside developing subspecialty interests and teaching activities. The role demands a high level of commitment to the ongoing education and development of junior colleagues and requires excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Maintain continuing responsibility for patient care, including administrative duties.
  • Develop subspecialty interests aligned with departmental strategy.
  • Conduct teaching, examinations, and accreditation duties as needed.
  • Contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate medical education activities.
  • Support Cardiff University intercalated and SSC students.
  • Participate in clinical audit and continuing medical education.
  • Conduct suitable duties in emergencies and major incidents.
  • Participate in out of hours consultant rota.
  • Enable senior input into patient journeys through the ED, enhancing quality and consultant sign-off.
  • Participate in an annualised hours rota covering adult and paediatric emergency departments.
  • Support the clinical lead in policy and strategy development.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues across different divisions.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Extensive experience as a Paediatric Emergency Consultant.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Proficiency in relevant medical software and systems.
