About the Role:
This Senior Care and Housing Support Officer role empowers individuals to maximize independence while ensuring their safety and well-being. The position contributes to minimizing abuse and monitoring individuals at risk within a care setting, maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Empower individuals to achieve independence and maximize potential.
- Contribute to the protection and safeguarding of individuals.
- Minimize the effects of abusive behaviour.
- Monitor individuals at risk from abuse.
- Report concerns and suspicions of neglect or harm.
- Maintain accurate records according to service standards.
- Provide management cover in the absence of managers.
- Develop and review person-centred Care and Support plans.
- Support care staff in delivering quality care and maintaining good practices.
- Support individuals with health-related issues, including medication management.
- Handle housing-related issues, including tenancy support.
- Support individuals in emergencies.
- Seek support from other services in emergency situations.
- Maintain daily contact with tenants to ensure welfare and safety.
- Participate in assessments, planning, and reviews of care needs.
- Monitor the effectiveness and appropriateness of care services.
- Liaise with managers, agencies, and community services.
- Respond to emergencies and seek support from specialists.
- Liaise with community alarm services.
- Promote and support leisure and community activities.
- Meet prospective tenants and explain the scheme’s purpose and facilities.
- Provide information and guidance to new tenants.
- Assist with housing management matters (transfers, lettings, repairs).
- Monitor tenants’ adherence to tenancy agreements.
- Contribute to the repair and cleanliness of communal areas.
- Maintain and implement equipment (alarms, door entry systems, etc.).
- Maintain accurate administrative and financial records.
- Attend team meetings, training, and other necessary meetings.
- Participate in workforce development programs.
- Meet regularly with the Extra Care Manager for supervision.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of Day Opportunities Service.
- Participate in the Council’s Appraisal Scheme.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies.
- Champion and execute an open culture of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
- Fulfil other duties as needed to achieve post objectives.
- Carry out responsibilities with regard to health and safety policy.
Skills and Expertise:
- Proven experience in care and support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in housing support (desirable).
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Experience in managing health-related issues.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent record-keeping skills.
- Ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
