About the Role:

Seeking a passionate and experienced School Business Manager to join a primary school on the outskirts of Wigan. This role involves supporting the headteacher and governors in the smooth operation of the school and fostering a positive learning environment for pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the school budget alongside the Headteacher.
  • Process all business and finance transactions.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and variations in income and expenditure.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain office and reporting systems.
  • Contribute to operational policy and procedure development.
  • Manage office and finance staff, providing leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with financial, administrative, and HR regulations.
  • Provide expert advice to Senior Leaders and Governing Body on regulations and policies.
  • Implement Health and Safety policies and procedures for staff.
  • Coordinate staff cover arrangements efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate HR records.
  • Participate in staff review and development appraisals.
  • Ensure effective use of ICT systems to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Promote the school’s image within the local community and support the Headteacher in marketing efforts to generate business income.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Relevant qualification in business management or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing at a strategic level within senior leadership.
  • Experience in line management.
  • Proficiency in using complex databases and financial/administrative software.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and health and safety legislation.
  • Budget and resource management experience.
  • Ability to develop and implement procedures and policies.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to lead and manage change.
  • CIPD or CSBM qualification (desirable).
