About the Role:
This role involves providing expert care as a first point of contact for patients with undifferentiated problems within a PCN Same Day Service. The Advanced Paramedic Practitioner will make autonomous decisions, focusing on assessment, treatment, and appropriate patient referral or discharge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment, treatment, and diagnosis to patients.
- Make autonomous clinical decisions within scope of practice.
- Refer patients to alternative care or treat and discharge as appropriate.
- Initiate diagnostic tests and interpret findings.
- Generate prescriptions within scope of practice.
- Maintain professional standards and adhere to guidelines.
- Support collaboration and network implementation of service changes.
- Contribute to achieving service quality targets.
- Identify community health needs and develop patient-centered strategies.
- Support the development and improvement of patient services.
- Participate in the management of patient complaints and clinical incident analysis.
- Complete mandatory training and induction programs.
- Contribute to clinical governance initiatives.
- Attend regular performance appraisals.
- Provide effective leadership and foster team collaboration.
- Develop professional skills through training and service redesign.
- Contribute to public health campaigns (e.g., flu clinics).
- Support delivery of quality improvement initiatives (e.g., QOF, incentive schemes).
- Undertake other tasks consistent with the role’s level and responsibility.
Skills and Expertise:
- Advanced Paramedic Practitioner qualifications.
- Strong history taking and physical examination skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and clinical decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of local and national guidelines.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in patient care and service delivery.
