About the Role:

This Modern Apprenticeship program provides on-the-job training and a nationally recognized qualification for aspiring Mechanical Engineers in the Building Services sector of Fife Council. You will gain hands-on experience across a range of construction tasks, from maintenance to new builds. This role is suitable for individuals seeking to enter the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop skills and knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.
  • Work on all aspects of building services activities, including maintenance, repair, and new builds.
  • Demonstrate adherence to company health and safety policies, including the Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) policy for hazardous environments.
  • Meet and maintain regulatory requirements for RPE, adhering to HSG 53.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, showing a proactive and enthusiastic approach.
  • Achieve competence in the chosen trade.

Skills and Expertise:

  • National 5s (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and a relevant Science subject.
  • Appreciation of the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering tasks.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in various environments.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to learning.
  • Ability to demonstrate SVQ Level 3 (SCQF Level 6) potential.
