About the Role:
A Building Support Assistant is needed to join the team at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. This role involves a variety of technical tasks, contributing to the planned and reactive maintenance of engineering plant and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake building services maintenance tasks, following guidance from supervisors, technicians, and craftsmen.
- Manage workload and take responsibility for Building Support Assistants.
- Execute competent-based technical tasks, including Legionella remedial works, TMV and AHU filter changes, light fitting replacements, and low-risk controlled isolations.
- Work in hazardous areas, adhering to all safety procedures.
- Participate in planned preventative maintenance schemes and CAFM system labour control.
- Perform emergency repairs as required.
- Undertake essential repair works and general maintenance.
- Liaise with Senior Technicians and Site Engineers regarding plant or equipment failures.
- Assist with technical maintenance, diagnostic fault-finding, and repair.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspections, schedules, and tasks.
- Escort contractors as required.
- Complete necessary reports, work orders, logbooks, and test certificates.
- Operate within permit-to-work systems.
- Immediately notify supervisors of any deviations from regulations.
- Follow operation and maintenance manuals.
- Use all relevant tools and equipment safely.
- Ensure timely completion of work, including potential overtime.
- Communicate effectively about work status to team members.
Skills and Expertise:
- Recognised industry training and Health and safety awareness/ certification.
- Experience in a building services maintenance environment.
- Experience in a people-focused environment.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail, demonstrated in verbal and written communication.
- IT skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Multi-skilled in a variety of tasks and using various equipment.
- Computer and keyboard skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to use initiative in problem-solving.
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others.
- Teamwork skills.
- Desire to develop skills and knowledge.
