About the Role:

Drive technical excellence and quality in cable project installations. This role focuses on design risks/technical issues resolution, ensuring best practices are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support FEED activities (options assessment, cable route development, landfall selection, and risk assessment).
  • Work collaboratively with various engineering teams (environmental, geotechnical, civil, offshore).
  • Promote safety-in-design and CDM duties for SSE Transmission.
  • Review and accept contractor engineering deliverables for compliance.
  • Supervise installation and commissioning for compliance.
  • (Senior roles) Inform HVDC cable system requirements for EPC contracts and support tender review.
  • (Senior roles) Coordinate and support installation and commissioning for compliance.
  • (Senior roles) Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and drive excellence within the HVDC Project Engineering team.
  • (Senior roles) Lead special analytical studies and solve complex problems.

Skills and Expertise:

  • BEng/BSc qualification in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in HVDC or HVAC transmission cable projects.
  • Experience with EPC contracts and CDM regulations (especially Supervisor/Principal Designer roles).
  • Competent awareness and working knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and building technical excellence.
