About the Role:

NELFT NHS Foundation Trust seeks a passionate and innovative Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a 12-month secondment covering maternity leave. This role focuses on community rehabilitation for individuals with neurological conditions in Havering and Barking and Dagenham boroughs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat patients with neurological conditions, creating individual treatment plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments using various methods to understand patient needs.
  • Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams, specialist nurses, and external service providers.
  • Manage complex patient cases and ensure timely discharge planning.
  • Supervise and train junior staff, supporting their professional development.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Community Rehabilitation Service.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and dignity are maintained at all times.
  • Promote a positive image of the service to patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on patient progress.
  • Continuously update clinical knowledge and skills through research and training.
  • Adhere to the standards and guidelines of Occupational Therapy practice.
  • Utilize IT systems effectively and promote the Trust’s IM&T strategy.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Minimum 18 months experience as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist
  • Experience in UK healthcare systems (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in relevant assessment tools and techniques for neurology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proven ability to travel throughout the assigned boroughs.
