About the Role:

An exceptional opportunity awaits a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist in a leading Nottinghamshire hospital. This role focuses on delivering high-quality care, promoting patient recovery, and re-engagement within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, and therapeutic milieu development.
  • Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Supervising referrals and admissions, including pre-admission assessments of young people.
  • Offering psychiatric input to multidisciplinary teams for assessment, formulation, and treatment of young people.
  • Contributing to management and clinical governance meetings, and service strategy development.
  • Participating in in-house training programmes and supervising junior medical staff.
  • Maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience working with people with significant mental health difficulties in inpatient settings.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Code of Practice, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Code of Capacity.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient interviews, assessments, treatment, and medical note-taking.
  • Commitment to continued professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
