About the Role:
Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust seeks a passionate Healthcare Assistant to join their continence service. This role offers the chance to support patients with bladder and bowel issues in the Sherborne, Gillingham, Blandford and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake continence assessments for housebound patients via telephone consultations, home visits, or care homes.
- Provide conservative lifestyle advice (fluid intake, bladder irritants) to manage bladder and bowel symptoms.
- Carry out continence assessments, including conservative lifestyle advice and recommending containment products/devices.
- Consult with patients, family members, and other care providers (with consent).
- Carry out bladder scans and sheath fittings (full training provided).
- Work under supervision of clinicians, but also autonomously as required.
Skills and Expertise:
- Enthusiasm for continence care.
- Interest in assisting patients with bladder & bowel issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full driving license and own car.
- Experience working with patients in diverse settings.
- Knowledge of care plans and patient needs.
- Competency in the delivery of relevant care.
