About the Role:

Lead the cross-government Joint Combating Drugs Unit (JCDU) in Greater Manchester, developing and overseeing the delivery of a 10-year national drug strategy. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to achieve impactful results across government departments and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the cross-Government drugs strategy, working with partners locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Review and prioritize the 10-year drug strategy, adapting to emerging risks and maximizing impact across government missions.
  • Track and drive delivery of the drug strategy across all departments and partners.
  • Support and advise the cross-Government drugs minister, enabling a collective leadership approach.
  • Cohere spending review priorities and strategic narrative related to the drugs strategy.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven leadership and strategic thinking in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of drug policy and related government programs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Experience leading and motivating teams across various agencies.
