About the Role:

This critical senior role within DBTs Project Delivery and Change Directorate leads a team of project delivery professionals and oversees a major projects portfolio valued at approximately 35bn. The role is pivotal in planning, prioritizing, and assuring the departments wider transformation programs, setting standards for excellence in project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee DBTs Major Projects Portfolio.
  • Provide scrutiny, assurance, and performance reporting to the Investment Committee.
  • Set strategies and standards for project delivery, driving capability development.
  • Lead and advise the Executive Committee (ExCo), collaborating with Senior Responsible Owners (SROs) and Programme Managers.
  • Liaise with counterparts across Whitehall and the Infrastructure Projects Authority (IPA).
  • Coherently assure a large and complex portfolio of projects.
  • Provide insight and advice to inform investment decisions and prioritisation.
  • Define the strategic vision for the Project Delivery Function and set standards.
  • Drive capacity and capability among Project Delivery Professionals.
  • Oversee all facets of the Project Delivery Function, ensuring robust policies, practices and frameworks are in place.
  • Manage the recruitment, learning, and career development of Project Delivery professionals.
  • Partner with Senior Programme Leaders as a trusted advisor throughout programme lifecycles.
  • Lead a team of Project, Programme and Portfolio subject matter experts.
  • Be an integral member of the Project Delivery and Change senior leadership team.
