About the Role:
The Opportunity Hub UK is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager for a prestigious London childcare provider. This role requires a dedicated individual to support the Nursery Manager in delivering exceptional care and learning experiences, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and practices related to childcare and safety.
- Implement safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures effectively.
- Manage security procedures for child drop-off and collection.
- Adhere to Data Protection Policy.
- Lead, guide, and support the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
- Plan learning objectives for children in line with the EYFS, creating stimulating learning environments.
- Develop strategies to improve staff practices and support their training needs.
- Monitor planning systems and staff knowledge, ensuring accurate completion of mandatory paperwork.
- Facilitate working partnerships with parents/carers and promote the nursery to new and existing families.
- Support staff and children during inspections and implement required changes.
- Handle complaints and concerns professionally, supporting the transition process.
- Provide constructive feedback and deliver staff training to promote professional development.
- Maintain clear and accurate records, including staff records and financial data.
- Support recruitment processes and ensure a balanced and safe staff team.
- Ensure clear communication of managerial decisions to all staff members.
- Conduct staff personal development reviews and supervision.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and adherence to adult-to-child ratios.
- Oversee and audit all required administration and operational plans.
Skills and Expertise:
- Degree in childcare or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification).
- 5+ years post-qualifying experience, including 2 years managing and supervising staff in an early years setting.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum, child protection procedures, and health and safety legislation.
- Excellent staff management skills, leadership, and motivational skills.
- IT proficiency in computer software for financial purposes, record-keeping, and childcare management.
- Commitment to personal and professional development.
