About the Role:

This exciting opportunity is for a dedicated Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse to lead a bespoke therapeutic placement unit in a leading mental health hospital in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. This inpatient specialist mental health service caters to young people and adults with challenging needs, aiming for their recovery and community re-engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a ward or equivalent, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and visitors.
  • Apply relevant policies and statutory requirements within the hospital framework, communicating them to the team.
  • Assess and manage risks across the working environment, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion, modelling these principles within the team.
  • Identify and address deficits in skill mix and staffing levels.
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of learning, development, and team vision.
  • Support junior staff and student nurses on placement.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with an active NMC Pin
  • Trained Assessor/Supervisor (preferred)
  • Clinical supervision experience (essential), training desirable
  • Demonstrated commitment to Continued Professional Development and leadership
  • Strong computer skills
  • 18 months – 2 years’ post-registration experience
  • Expertise within a clinical speciality (preferred)
