About the Role:
This Design Manager role involves full ownership of design work from tendering to project completion at a regional contractor in Newbury. You’ll be instrumental in delivering projects, working closely with preconstruction teams and driving design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of design-related tasks across the entire project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with estimating, bid, commercial, and delivery teams.
- Manage design changes and implement solutions to improve project quality, speed, and buildability.
- Work with local authorities, consultants, and supply chain partners.
- Contribute to the development of pre-construction teams on new opportunities.
- Support construction phase delivery teams.
Skills and Expertise:
- Experience with BIM and BREEAM.
- Proven experience working as a Design Manager for a main or regional contractor.
- Strong understanding of design and build schemes.
- Expertise in groundworks, building services, and envelope packages.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage projects from conception to completion.
