About the Role:
Teach junior international students aged 10-17 in Hatfield, UK, during a summer school program from June 30th to July 27th. This role includes teaching classes and assisting with general academic duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach junior students 4 x 1.5 hour lessons per day, Monday to Friday.
- Attend on-site induction and training prior to student arrival.
- Thoroughly review pre-course materials and syllabi.
- Conduct student induction and testing, assisting the Director of Studies.
- Maintain accurate academic records and registers.
- Prepare and issue academic reports, certificates, and awards.
- Prepare and deliver effective and engaging lessons.
- Prepare students for Trinity exam (if applicable).
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and manage resources.
- Attend staff meetings and support the activities programme.
- Follow the International syllabus and adapt lessons to summer school format.
- Manage student behaviour and report any concerns.
- Monitor student progress and report any necessary changes to the Director of Studies.
- Assist with general administration and record maintenance.
- Ensure students study at the appropriate level.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the centre.
Skills and Expertise:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- CELTA/Trinity TESOL qualification (or equivalent PGCE with QTS in MFL or English)
- ESL teaching experience
- Experience teaching classes with up to 15 students
- Experience in summer schools (preferred)
- Understanding of student behaviour and engagement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records
