About the Role:

Teach junior international students aged 10-17 in Hatfield, UK, during a summer school program from June 30th to July 27th. This role includes teaching classes and assisting with general academic duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach junior students 4 x 1.5 hour lessons per day, Monday to Friday.
  • Attend on-site induction and training prior to student arrival.
  • Thoroughly review pre-course materials and syllabi.
  • Conduct student induction and testing, assisting the Director of Studies.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and registers.
  • Prepare and issue academic reports, certificates, and awards.
  • Prepare and deliver effective and engaging lessons.
  • Prepare students for Trinity exam (if applicable).
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and manage resources.
  • Attend staff meetings and support the activities programme.
  • Follow the International syllabus and adapt lessons to summer school format.
  • Manage student behaviour and report any concerns.
  • Monitor student progress and report any necessary changes to the Director of Studies.
  • Assist with general administration and record maintenance.
  • Ensure students study at the appropriate level.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the centre.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • CELTA/Trinity TESOL qualification (or equivalent PGCE with QTS in MFL or English)
  • ESL teaching experience
  • Experience teaching classes with up to 15 students
  • Experience in summer schools (preferred)
  • Understanding of student behaviour and engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records
