About the Role:

This locum Consultant Haematology position at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality patient care to patients of all ages with a variety of conditions. You will be a key contributor to the clinical and educational support for junior haematologists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide diagnosis, screening, treatment, and management of patient care.
  • Actively support patients and families, explaining diagnoses and treatment options.
  • Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe treatments.
  • Monitor and provide ongoing patient care.
  • Communicate with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams where appropriate.
  • Assess and prioritise patient needs, effectively delegating tasks.
  • Monitor patient condition and report changes to the team.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide information to patients.
  • Conduct research and develop procedures to enhance outcomes.
  • Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, and multidisciplinary team members.

Skills and Expertise:

  • GMC registered Doctor
  • Consultant-level experience (or demonstrable potential)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced background check (DBS) completion
  • Commitment to patient diagnosis and management
  • Focus on education, research and infection control
