About the Role:

Join a dedicated team supporting advanced clinical Oncology/Haematology services and aseptic products at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This specialist pharmacist role requires previous hospital experience, especially in aseptics and oncology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pharmacy support to haematology and oncology services.
  • Support the Aseptics Team by monitoring and checking chemotherapy.
  • Monitor prescriptions for haematology and oncology medicines ensuring safe, efficient, and appropriate prescribing practices.
  • Liaise with medical and nursing staff in the haematology department.
  • Monitor and check chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition products.
  • Assist in training other pharmacists to check chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
  • Assist in providing monthly chemotherapy statistics.
  • Assist in the running of the chemotherapy e-prescribing system.
  • Deputise for the Lead Pharmacist Oncology & Haematology in their absence.
  • Provide advice concerning pharmaceutical care for cancer and general medical patients.
  • Supervise, check and dispense medicines adhering to safe systems of work.
  • Participate in weekend working and emergency duties.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Previous hospital experience, including aseptics and oncology.
  • Knowledge of Trust, Regional, and National guidelines.
  • Understanding of NHS England prescribing requirements.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and checking chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
  • Experience with iQemo e-prescribing system is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
