About the Role:
Join a dedicated team supporting advanced clinical Oncology/Haematology services and aseptic products at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This specialist pharmacist role requires previous hospital experience, especially in aseptics and oncology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pharmacy support to haematology and oncology services.
- Support the Aseptics Team by monitoring and checking chemotherapy.
- Monitor prescriptions for haematology and oncology medicines ensuring safe, efficient, and appropriate prescribing practices.
- Liaise with medical and nursing staff in the haematology department.
- Monitor and check chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition products.
- Assist in training other pharmacists to check chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
- Assist in providing monthly chemotherapy statistics.
- Assist in the running of the chemotherapy e-prescribing system.
- Deputise for the Lead Pharmacist Oncology & Haematology in their absence.
- Provide advice concerning pharmaceutical care for cancer and general medical patients.
- Supervise, check and dispense medicines adhering to safe systems of work.
- Participate in weekend working and emergency duties.
Skills and Expertise:
- Previous hospital experience, including aseptics and oncology.
- Knowledge of Trust, Regional, and National guidelines.
- Understanding of NHS England prescribing requirements.
- Proficiency in monitoring and checking chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
- Experience with iQemo e-prescribing system is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
