About the Role:

We are seeking a highly qualified Histopathology Consultant to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This full-time position requires expertise in Breast pathology, with proficiency in at least one additional area (Urology, Gynaecology, or Dermatology). The role offers a rewarding opportunity to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases through tissue and fluid analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support patients and families, effectively communicating diagnoses.
  • Lead and/or participate in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prioritize patient needs, delegate tasks effectively, and oversee department workflow.
  • Examine patients, determine necessary tests, and interpret results.
  • Advise clinical staff on diagnostic investigations.
  • Interpret test results, assess further investigation needs.
  • Provide patient care, conduct ward rounds and clinics.
  • Manage pathology department operations, including planning and staffing.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.
  • Conduct research and stay updated on developments.
  • Adhere to NMC professional standards.

Skills and Expertise:

  • GMC registered Doctor (no specialist register requirement)
  • Relevant Consultant-level experience or demonstrable pathway to Consultant level
  • Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
  • Successful completion of enhanced background check (DBS)
  • Expertise in Breast pathology and at least one additional area of pathology (Urology, Gynaecology, or Dermatology)
