About the Role:
This locum Consultant Histopathologist position at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients at Royal Preston Hospital. You will be part of a dedicated team utilizing advanced medical equipment to deliver excellent patient care. The role necessitates expert knowledge in pathology and robust communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively support patients and families, ensuring clear communication of diagnoses.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team, potentially taking a leadership role.
- Assess and prioritize patient needs, delegating tasks effectively.
- Utilize diagnostic skills to determine necessary tests and interpret results.
- Provide clinical advice to other health professionals regarding diagnostic investigations.
- Deliver clinical care, conduct ward rounds, and manage outpatient clinics.
- Oversee the Pathology Department, planning workload and staffing.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff as required.
- Conduct research and stay current with advancements in the field.
- Adhere to NMC professional Code of Conduct.
Skills and Expertise:
- GMC registered Doctor (not required to be on the Specialist Register).
- Relevant Consultant-level experience or demonstrable potential for advancement.
- Evidence of UK Right to Work.
- Successful background check (DBS).
- Experience reporting skin cases (inflammatory and neoplastic) and gastro-intestinal pathology is preferred.
Job Facilities/Benefits:
