About the Role:
This role encompasses technical governance for large-scale HVDC projects, typically valued between 700M and 2000M, driving technical resilience and supporting net-zero ambitions within SSEN’s Converter Station and Cable System work packages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical governance throughout project development and execution.
- Manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring adequate technical support and guidance.
- Manage safety and technical risks through proactive identification, understanding, and control.
- Own and execute the Design Management Plan (DMP).
- Lead a team of staff engineers and specialist consultants.
- Implement robust stakeholder management plans for effective communication and reporting.
- Approve project quality plans and ensure resources for quality interventions.
- Promote and manage safe working practices, safety-in-design, and CDM procedures.
Skills and Expertise:
- Degree in engineering (preferably CEng)
- Proven experience in large capital infrastructure project design/engineering management (from a contractor or client organization)
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Understanding of complex technical issues and ability to translate them into clear recommendations for senior management
- Proficient knowledge of electricity networks and pertinent industry legislation (e.g., CDM, ESQC)
Job Facilities/Benefits:
- Salary: 63,000 – 94,000 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus
