About the Role:

This exciting leadership role focuses on driving strategic transformation and continuous improvement within Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will lead improvement initiatives across the organisation, ensuring alignment with Trust priorities and local health needs. They will also foster a culture of quality improvement and develop a high-performing improvement team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic transformation and continuous improvement across the Trust.
  • Lead the development, delivery, and oversight of improvement programmes aligned with Trust strategy, priorities, and local health needs.
  • Act as the lead for transformation, improvement, and innovation to deliver sustainable, high-quality services.
  • Develop a high-performing matrix improvement team and embed a culture of quality improvement.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (Trust leaders, operational teams, ICBs, voluntary sector).
  • Engage patients, carers, and communities in co-producing improvement initiatives.
  • Establish robust governance frameworks and align improvement efforts with regulatory standards.
  • Enhance organisational capability by providing tools, training, and support for consistent delivery of quality improvement projects.
  • Utilise data, such as NHS Impact and model health tools, to inform and challenge current practices.
  • Monitor and report progress against KPIs, providing insights to senior leaders and the Board.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and inclusivity.
  • Act as a change agent to support organisational readiness and resilience during transformation.
  • Provide visible and inclusive leadership aligned with Trust values.
  • Represent the Trust at regional and national forums, contributing to the NHS transformation agenda.
  • Address financial pressures by identifying inefficiencies and introducing value-driven changes.
  • Integrate financial and workforce planning into improvement programmes.
  • Oversee large-scale transformation programmes, ensuring measurable and sustainable improvements.
  • Drive innovation, digital adoption, and workforce advancements to meet evolving community needs.
  • Deliver comprehensive improvement strategies and align expertise across the Trusts priority programmes.
  • Deputise for the Chief Operating Officer when required, ensuring alignment with Trust objectives.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven leadership experience in healthcare settings.
  • Strong knowledge of NHS improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills (using NHS Impact, etc.).
  • Experience in strategic planning and programme delivery.
  • Financial acumen and understanding of budget management.
  • Experience in driving cultural change within large organizations.
