About the Role:

This role provides reactive support to Peninsula cancer services, aiding executive and management teams in gaining insight into their services. Building strong relationships with operational and clinical leads is crucial. The role ensures accurate and comprehensive reporting for the PCA team, partners, and board, acting as a single source of truth for key metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide reactive service to Peninsula cancer services, supporting executive and management.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with operational and clinical leads.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting to address key questions from PCA team, partners, and board.
  • Conduct proactive analysis of cancer services, identifying and escalating capacity/productivity issues to relevant leads.
  • Analyze performance issues, identifying variations and providing insightful solutions.
  • Provide support to Peninsula analytical and performance management community.
  • Review national cancer reporting guidelines and ensure implementation by provider teams.
  • Review and resolve National Team data reconciliation issues.
  • Ensure accuracy of submitted information.
  • Ensure appropriate data quality and information governance.
  • Deputise for the PCA Senior Data Analyst when required.
  • Provide expert advice on information collection, reporting, and interpretation across trusts and the local health community.
  • Develop and present reports describing cancer services for PCA and partners.
  • Conduct complex analysis of Trust data using various methods and tools.
  • Communicate complex analysis to a wide range of audiences.
  • Advise on and secure provider assurance for statutory and ad-hoc reports.
  • Assess operational reporting needs (PTLs, dashboards) for accuracy and suitability.
  • Support the application of information rules for consistency.
  • Maintain expertise in NHS data definitions and reporting requirements.
  • Support the Information Recording Steering Group and equivalents.
  • Collaborate with other Trust staff to meet reporting needs via audits or surveys.
  • Represent PCA and Trusts at information forums and events.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal and sensitive information.
  • Provide advice on handling sensitive information (political sensitivity, individual performance results).
  • Develop and run workshops to improve user confidence and information interpretation.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and address performance issues.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and methods.
  • Expertise in SQL (multiple dialects), Qlik, PowerBI, ETL tools, SSRS, Python, R.
  • Understanding of SQL Server (multiple versions), and UDAL (future).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with complex data and convey analysis to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS data definitions and reporting requirements.
