About the Role:

Experienced Kitchen Assistant required for a care home setting in Bedford. This role involves food preparation, adhering to health and safety and food standard regulations. Maintaining a clean kitchen environment is a key part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food items according to recipes and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen hygiene, ensuring cleanliness and adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Wash crockery and utensils as needed.
  • Assist chefs with meal preparation and service.
  • Prepare food trolleys and maintain the tidiness of preparation areas.
  • Act as a liaison between the kitchen and residents.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience with food preparation and catering.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in food preparation.
  • Ability to manage pressure, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a care home environment (preferred, but not essential).
  • Flexible to work shifts.
