About the Role:
St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Lead Nurse to spearhead a two-year project focused on improving care for patients with sickle cell disease and other red cell disorders. This role involves developing a dedicated pathway, including an emergency department bypass, and improving access, outcomes, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent care and a high-quality service for Haemoglobinopathy patients.
- Support the Hyper Acute Unit in and out of hours triage function.
- Support the training and education of Ward and Haematology junior doctor workforce.
- Engage with other trusts to ensure local providers are aware of Haemoglobinopathy resources.
- Develop adult haemoglobinopathies educational resources.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research, and standards of care within Haemoglobinopathy.
Skills and Expertise:
- Extensive experience as a Haematology Nurse.
- Proven experience in patient care management.
- Knowledge of clinical practice, research, and standards of care in Haemoglobinopathy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
- Familiarity with adult haemoglobinopathy.
