About the Role:

Morrison Energy Services Ltd is seeking a highly experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their growing Renewable Connections Business, initially based in the North of England. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, this role is key to maximizing project profitability and mitigating risks within the Commercial Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile reports and claims within agreed timelines.
  • Assist with commercial application implementation regarding site personnel, building relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, monitoring and maintaining project risk management plan documentation.
  • Manage all sub-contractor relationships, ensuring compliant quotations/enquiries, and generating documentation for service selection and monthly assessments.
  • Increase knowledge of commercial issues and contract law to manage compensation events/variations/claims.
  • Develop and implement processes for increased accuracy and efficiency in time, journal, and reconciliation tasks.
  • Liaise with Senior Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyor(s) to ensure appropriate commercial coverage.
  • Assist the team, Project Manager, Engineers, and Planners in cost recovery, enhancing project profit through identifying variations, delays, and claims.
  • Produce monthly project financial and forecast-to-complete reports for analysis with Finance and Commercial staff.
  • Develop strong negotiating skills.
  • Attend handover and progress meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the development of a site commercial manual and documentation for recording variations.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, contributing to the implementation of the Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Policy, aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 certifications.
  • Undertake any other necessary duties to meet business demands and customer needs.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Financial awareness.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Oracle.
  • Expertise in contract costing, contract law (FIDIC Yellow & Silver Book/NEC 4 Option A/JCT Design & Build).
  • Experience in contract management, capturing site records for variations and valuations, supporting a project team.
  • Sub-contractor management experience.
  • Cost/value reconciliation skills.
  • Qualified Quantity Surveying professional.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Industry knowledge is beneficial.
