About the Role:

We are seeking a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist for a part-time or full-time position in Wrexham. The successful candidate will provide exceptional patient care, manage treatment plans, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of oncology services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information clearly.
  • Assist in managing the side effects and symptoms of cancer, including pain management.
  • Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various treatments (chemotherapy, immunotherapy).
  • Treat patients with radiation therapy (if applicable).
  • Provide constant monitoring and care for patients in critical conditions.
  • Communicate with patients on shared patient decision making.
  • Work in and lead a multidisciplinary team as needed.
  • Assess and prioritize patient needs, delegating effectively.
  • Recognise, review, and report patient condition changes.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks (records, prescriptions, patient information).
  • Adhere to the GMC professional Code of Conduct.

Skills and Expertise:

  • GMC registered Doctor (not required to be on the Specialist Register).
  • Relevant Consultant-level experience, or references demonstrating transition potential.
  • Evidence of UK Right to Work (no visa sponsorship offered).
  • Successful completion of enhanced background check (DBS).
  • Quick thinking, patience, calmness under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail, systematic approach, and timekeeping.
  • Empathy, understanding, flexibility, desire for professional development, active listening.
