About the Role:

This oncology lead nurse role requires a highly skilled and experienced practitioner to provide expert patient-centered care, especially in oncology immunotherapy clinics. The role involves leadership and management responsibilities while maintaining a high level of clinical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and efficient patient-centered care in Oncology immunotherapy clinics, follow-up clinics, treatment reviews, and symptom control.
  • Oversee and provide management support to the Acute Oncology team.
  • Conduct ongoing review services for local immunotherapy and oncology patients.
  • Independently deliver difficult news and feedback to patients and families, providing support.
  • Utilize clinical skills including history taking, physical assessment, and non-medical prescribing.
  • Ensure timely follow-up care using local protocols and NICE guidelines.
  • Exercise professional autonomy and make critical judgments to meet role expectations.
  • Lead and manage a wider CNS team, working flexibly and at an enhanced clinical level.
  • Manage workload and caseload across the region.
  • Collaborate professionally across organizational, agency, and system boundaries to improve services and develop practice.
  • Participate in local, regional, and national networks.
  • Assess and manage risk, and challenge others about risk proactively.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Expert knowledge and experience in oncology and immunotherapy.
  • Strong clinical skills, including history taking, physical assessment, and non-medical prescribing.
  • Proven leadership and management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and families.
  • Advanced time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of local protocols and NICE guidelines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make critical judgments.
